My Trip
Artic 1981
1. My youth and the discovery of Europe
Denmark 1980

Denmark 1980

Going away...This was the the key-word throughout my adolescence. I felt like discovering new horizons as soon as I could This dream came true when I turned 16. Even thought I had already travelled with my family, I discovered the true meaning of 'going away' that summer. I was going to set off, with my rucksack only, to carry out my projects.

I aimed for Northern Europe, but for no country in particular. I crossed Germany, travelled through Denmark, stopping whenever I met someone.

Going back to school after a month of freedom was extremely difficult. But as I already had in mind another trip, I was motivated to find small jobs so as to finance this new adventure. That year I chose warm and sunny places. I decided to go to Spain and then to Portugal where I was hoping to find more about my roots.

2. Not like others
Denmark 1980

Then I completed my studies and I realized I had better not to go studying. But I felt confident about the future : I would always be able to find a job, wherever in the world with my qualifications in the hotel trade. However something became clear then, I refused to be emprisonned in society's conformism. I decided to develop the eccentric side of my personnality.

3. Scandinavia and the Artic
Artic polar circle 1981

Scandinavia 1981

A new departure, this time towards the Artic Circle to celebrate my 18th birthday.

To add yet another thrill to this trip, I would hitch-hike, the best way to encounter people. During that trip I discovered the true meaning of 'freedom'.

How else could I have reacted confronted to such an imposing environment ? Norway, Sweden, Finland ; so many countries that I could discover without any restraint.

4. Discovery of the New World
Denmark 1980

Mexico 1984

I spent a year in Canada, the USA, Mexico and Guatemala where I discovered my attraction for craftwork.

When I watched craftsmen work with Onyx in Tasco, make hammocks in Merida, Mexico, weave clothes in Chichicastenango, Guatemala and do many other things, I understood that a new way was opened for me.

5. The beginning of handicrafts trade
Bolivia 1985

Bolivia 1985

Craft was going to be at the chore of my new life . It all started in South America and Peru in particular. Young people from these countries taught me how to make the jewellry which was about to become very fashionable in Europe. It was so nice afterwards to discover all these craftsmen : In Ecuador : the weavers at Otavalo or the Panama hat-makers in Cuenca. In Peru : the potters specialised in reproduction of Pre-columbian potteries or the stone-cutters in Cajamarca in the north of the country.

In Bolivia : the music-instrument makers (such as sampoñas, panpipes)who are at the same time artists and craftsmen. The Alpaga wool-weavers in the Altiplano. I wa going to start promoting and selling South-America handicrafts in France, and I would start with this wide range of objects and clothes.

6. Back to France and new horizons
Nepal 1999

Nepal 1999

For 15 years after my beginnings in this field of activity, after many hard moments and many surprises, I work with these men and women who keep on inventing things.

Since 1999, I have worked with people from Nepal, India and Thailande, paying attention to establish friendly relationships between us.

On same time I was travelling for muy job, I use to discover some new place far from big cities and discovering my new passion for wildlife.

7. Becoming a nature lover

In 2007, we decide with my girlfriend to quit all in France, selling the shops and our things to be abble to spent more time outside of France and try to live in the jungle of Nepal, in Bardia National Park.

First time we've been there, we anderstood that life in wildlife environment was more important for us than any other style of life.

Now I have plenty of time to do my new hobbie, wildlife photographer and discover this new world.
